History of the gay world in three poems

Three new poems based on museum objects have also been commissioned for the festival. John McCullough is writing a poem based on an object at the British Museum, Rommi Smith is looking for inspiration at the Museum of London and Peter Daniels will be hunting through centuries of records at London Metropolitan Archives.

Daniels said: “searching the London Metropolitan Archives made me realise how much of the recorded history of LGBT people is about invisibility and getting on the wrong side of the law. Imagining what else went on is the creative part!”

All three poems will be unveiled at the festival finale party as part of the Museum of London’s Pleasure Garden Ball on Valentine’s Night.
