It was during the War of Independence in the colony of America that Britain gained herself these unlikely allies. Black loyalists fought for Britain against the American colonists. Free blacks were joined by thousands of slaves who had been promised freedom and land by Britain

Marjorie Morgan

Born in the West Country of England to economic migrant parents from Jamaica, Marjorie Morgan has lived and worked throughout the South and East of the country for many years. She was educated in Wiltshire and Northamptonshire and worked in the fields of computing and social housing before becoming a social researcher.

As a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford she investigated several areas of identity issues within the minority communities in Britain. Marjorie also provided valuable skills of both research and editing for pre-publication texts that related to gender and genocide and the search for peace in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.

Marjorie has been a Director of the award winning Northamptonshire Black History Association (NBHA) where she has also acted as a freelance researcher; her work has been published by the NBHA.
