Write Queer London 2012: How to enter

Write Queer London flyer

RULES:

Entries in all categories must relate to an aspect of historical or modern Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender London - or objects held in London museums. We will interpret this fairly broadly, but won't consider entries, however good, which are simply 'gay stories/poems' with no other relation to the theme.

Non-fiction (essays, journalism, profiles, comment) up to 2,500 words. Poems no longer than 40 lines. Stories no longer than 2,500 words. Entries must be the work of the entrant and must never have been published (including the internet) or broadcast.

Only one entry per category.

Entries must be in English, typed, single-sided, with pages numbered and stapled where sent as hard copies. Stories must be double-spaced, and poems - single-spaced.

All work will be judged anonymously. Please include a separate cover letter with the title of your entry, your name, address and email address. Do not write these details on the entry itself.

If you're a winner, we would love you to read from your work for a couple of minutes at the prizegiving party, unless you are very shy, or circumstances make that impossible.

Entries will not be returned. No corrections after receipt. For acknowledgement of your entry, please enclose a stamped address postcard marked Acknowledgements. Prizewinners will be announced on February 10th 2012 and winners names (or noms de plume) will be posted on the Chroma and UntoldLondon website.

Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author, but UntoldLondon.org.uk and Chroma: A Queer Literary Journal will have the right to publish the winning poems, stories and essays.

No competitor may win more than one prize. The judges' decision is final and no individual correspondence can be entered into.

Entry implies acceptance of the rules. Failure to comply with the entry requirements will result in disqualification.

Deadline: 6th February 2012

Prizes

£200 for overall winning entry and £100 for winners in each category.

The prizegiving party will take place 7pm, 14th February 2012 at the Museum of London's Valentine's Night.
